Founded in '95 as part of the NBA's Canada expansion, the Toronto Raptors name pays homage to the success of the '93 Jurassic Park film. The team quickly became fan favourites with recognizable purple team colours. In 2008, the Raptors replaced the purple with red, before the original "Raptor" with an alternative logo of raptor claws holding a basketball in 2015.
